The London Cafe blends the casual, quick-service atmosphere of a cafe with the hearty offerings of an Italian-themed eatery, creating a spot that feels both familiar and practical for everyday dining in Richmond. Located inside a commercial building at 12251 Horseshoe Way, it functions more like a no-frills canteen than a lounge-style coffee shop, attracting locals who want a straightforward meal without fuss.

This place shines during lunch hours when workers from nearby offices filter in for something filling yet affordable. Prices hover around the $10 to $13 mark for a combo of main dishes and coffee, making it a solid choice for anyone mindful of budget but not willing to sacrifice quality. The menu features solid staples like homemade burger patties in several varieties—veggie, chicken, deluxe—as well as pasta and sandwiches, all served in generous portions. The Super Chicken sandwich and various pasta dishes often come recommended by regulars seeking reliable comfort food.

Coffee here is sourced from Pedro’s Organic Coffee, a detail that surfaces in customer notes, emphasizing a preference for good quality brews amid the practical setting. The hot chocolate, made with Ghirardelli chocolate, is a highlight for those wanting a sweet, cozy treat beyond the typical espresso-based drinks like lattes and cappuccinos.

The atmosphere is straightforward and unpretentious. The decor is functional but could use updating, which some visitors note, reinforcing the impression that this is a place focused more on the food and price point than on ambiance. Staff tend to be friendly and consistent, contributing to a reliable daily experience for many who make this their lunch spot.

Because it sits inside a building and feels somewhat like a canteen, The London Cafe suits people looking for a quick sit-down meal away from fast food chains. It’s especially popular with those working nearby who want something fresh and filling without the typical cafe wait or price tag. Weekdays around noon are the busiest times, so visiting slightly before or after peak lunch can offer a calmer experience.

Overall, The London Cafe serves as a practical, uncomplicated local eatery where comfort, value, and straightforward Italian and cafe fare meet. It’s best for casual diners, working professionals, and anyone craving a well-portioned meal with solid coffee in a low-key environment.

The London Cafe is a little gem of a cafe. I've been there a dozen times and have great food and service everytime. There have been a few different faces in there over the years but they always seem to enjoy what they do and that helps in my opinion. The Super Chicken is one of the best sandwiches I have had in a long time. Great pasta and cheap drinks. Decor is in need of an upgrade, but its a dinner... that's how they are supposed to look.

There's nothing bad I can say about this cafe. I eat there almost on a daily basis. The food is great, staff are friendly and you can't beat the price. Unless youd rather eat mcdonalds of course. Please disregard the disgruntled person leaving bad reviews they were clearly having a bad day.

Note: this place is a canteen. To people who are curious about here, this is located inside the building. You can ask the front desk and she'll direct you towards the area. Other than that, this is more of a canteen rather than a cafe. The prices are great- 9.50$ for pasta and the portions are pretty large. A dish plus coffee is around 13.50$ and is enough for a single person. The cook is extremely nice, bringing all the food to your table and it's very empty during the day.

I used to frequent this place nearly every other day, however, even though their prices are unbeatable within this area, it obviously adds up. I still make an effort to hit it up on my lunch break at least once a week and am NEVER disappointed. The portions are huge, the prices are more than reasonable, and the ingredients are fresh... not to mention, they make the burger patties in house. Great and friendly staff who really accommodate your every request with a smile. In my opinion, these guys set the bar for local mom and pop run joints for some great fare!

Best comfort ever! The meatball sub and beef dip with fries are simply divine, as are the the various pasta dishes. The turkey club, however, is my go to favorite. Service is always prompt and friendly, too.

This is a local hidden Gem! Great food at a very fair price point. Bolognese pasta is the best must try.
